The goal of this collaboration is to experiment with 5G technology in the context of Metrology Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) services and solutions for Industry. For these purposes, Innovalia collaborates by providing access to Metrology 4.0 solutions such as M3 Hybrid, a solution formed by a CMM, an optical sensor for the capture of point clouds and M3 Software a measuring software.
Working hand in hand with entities that are also members of 5TONIC such as Telefónica, Ericsson, IMDEA Networks and Universidad Carlos III Madrid, Innovalia will test the use of 5G networks to improve metrology applications in factories, taking advantage of the flexibility, reliability and high capacity of the 5G network.
“Innovalia is a great collaborator of 5TONIC and a key part of our goal by helping the industry to benefit from the adoption of 5G technologies” said Arturo Azcorra, vice president of 5TONIC. Now with this technological incorporation 5TONIC culminates one of the first phases of collaboration within the framework of the European project.
M3 Hybrid, consisting of a coordinate measuring machine (VULKAN) specially designed to work in factories, Optiscan: a high precision scanning sensor and M3 Software, the metrological data capture and analysis sw, it is the complete solution that is installed in the 5TONIC laboratory with the aim of experimenting new service configurations that, thanks to 5G technology, may reach unprecedented levels of optimization and quality; contributing substantially to the paradigm of zero defect manufacturing.
About 5TONIC
5TONIC was started by Telefónica and the IMDEA Institute with a clear vision of creating an open laboratory of research and innovation in which industry and academia would come together to promote technology. The laboratory promotes the development of projects, companies, discussion forums, events and conferences, all in an international environment of high impact. 5TONIC serves to showcase the capabilities and interoperation of pre-commercial 5G equipment, services and applications by leading 5G companies. The lab recently received the status of a Digital Innovation Center by the European Commission.
